Supporting the school where our children learn, grow, and play everyday.
I want to start by saying that we have an amazing, strong group of PTO members this year. There were a couple of years when we thought this group wouldn’t survive and there were just a few members trying to run programs that made a huge impact on our little school. I hope that every year we see new members, especially from the lower level grades, who will help the PTO flourish. Join us for a meeting and if you feel inspired by any projects (and believe me, there’s a lot going on that will move your heart) the smallest bit of contribution goes a long way. Many helping hands make light work.
Our PTO members are Julie Gargan, PTO President; Jenny Foreman, Vice President; Katey Adams, Treasurer; and Julie Verrilli, Secretary. We have a lovely group of core members. Each member brings energy and ideas that help current fundraisers and programs thrive. This year the reading incentive program saw our children collectively read 55,346 minutes! The PTO has invested over $700 in the reading incentive program just this year with books for all the kids, prizes, and a celebration that went out with a magical bang! At our last meeting we saw the need to reach out to families in need in our community. We are hoping to start a “Sunshine Fund” that will help local families in need.
In order to run these fabulous programs and support our school’s upcoming projects we try to run at least three or four key fundraisers. Our Silver Graphics fundraiser had great participation this year. The Wells Memorial School spirit clothing shop is well underway, and the Cake Walk will take place at old home days this summer. The Cake Walk is the perfect time to get your bake on, and the kids love helping! The special projects these fundraisers support include the Reading Incentive Program, an Outdoor Classroom, and a new School Sign that will inspire our children as they arrive everyday at our amazing school. The best way to support our PTO is to stop by at the next meeting and see what it’s all about.
